People who should be immunised against the flu?
The following individuals in WA are eligible to receive Commonwealth-funded vaccine:
- Pregnant women (any trimester).
- Persons 65 years of age or older.
- Aboriginal people aged at least 6 months but less than 5 years; or 15 years or older.
- Individuals aged 6 months and over with medical conditions that place them at risk for complications of influenza, namely:
- Cardiac disease.
- Chronic respiratory conditions.
- Chronic neurological conditions.
- Impaired immunity.
- Diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
- Renal disease.
- Haematological disorders.
- Children aged 6 months to 10 years receiving long term aspirin therapy.
Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years are eligible to receive State-funded influenza vaccine.

- Public and private hospital staff who provide direct care to people.
- Staff in long-term care facilities or nursing homes.
- People who live with, or care for someone who has a chronic illness or is aged over 65 years.
- Carers of homeless people.
- Workers, particularly those in workplaces that provide essential services.
- People who work with children.
- People involved in the commercial poultry and pig industry.
- Workers in other high-risk industries.
- Anyone visiting parts of the world where flu is circulating, especially if travelling in a group.
